I know all about that. We are military and I grew up military. We move a lot and its hard moving to a new area and know nothing about it.

When you said Groton schools aren't good is that the town of Groton or Groton school district? We found some houses we are interested in and the school is in mystic but it's Groton school district :/

Honestly, I'm not sure. Groton Town and Groton City share a high school. The elementary school are split amongst the city and town.
I know many people who just dont like the school system here. Many of our friends choose to homeschool b/c the school system just isnt great. I would get online and check for yourself though. You may be comfortable with it because of suplimental education in the house.
The Mystic/ Noank/ Groton (Mystic part) is a beautiful place to live.

The kids have been in a online school so I guess homeschooling isn't too much of a leap . I heard its pretty easy to homeschool here I'll look into it.

I know a LOT of people who homeschool in this part of CT. There are a good number of homeschooling co-ops and educational programs.

Hi Deema,

I'm in CT too, but New Haven county. How important is a short drive to work to your DH? I think it's pretty common for people to drive an hour to get there for work. While I think a shorter drive would be ideal, I wouldn't necessarily limit yourselves geographically. Here are the CT school rankings based on test score, in case this is helpful: http://www.schooldigger.com/go/CT/districtrank.aspx Numbers 9, 24 and 25 (East and Old Lyme) are in your area, with 9 (Madison) being the farthest out. Most of the top rated schools are in western ct. How far out can you go?
