Pumps covered under Obamacare

My insurance would cover it if it was "Medically necessary" in 2011 (before Obamacare went into effect) . I had an FSA (which also allowed you to use those funds if you got a note from a doctor). I paid for mine with my FSA as I wanted to have it before my daughter was born in case I needed it. (I had engorgement issues in the first few weeks with my son).

I emailed my insurance company this morning. I talked to them last about a pump in September over the phone and was placed on hold because the women just didn't seem to know the answers to my questions. They end up paying for the rental of a Medela symphony for two months because it was medically necessary. Now my daughters weight is up and she's gaining slowly but steadily but I pump twice a day. My hope is that they'll do their research and really think before they write me back.

my ped wrote an Rx for a pump. kinsurance covered it but it had to be shipped overnight from NJ. im in /gA. hth

Not that you want a hand pump, but it can still be helpfull, I got a free set of medella pumping supplies and a hand pump when I was in the hospital for free, my doula set me up with it.

Big shocker my insurance company never responded to my email asking if they would cover a medela double electric breastpump.i was hopeful that if I sent my inquiryin writing I might get a thoughtful answer in return but I was wrong. Apparently their answer was to ignore me. I have an inquiry number from the submission so Im going to call them monday. I should have called today but I was too busy with the kids.
