Born on the sidewalk :) Pics added!
* I went to bed Saturday night with a back ache and feeling like something might be happening soon, but no real contractions. A real strong one woke me up, I had to breath, almost moan through it. So I thought, ok, something's starting. Another one, even stronger hit almost right away. I looked at the clock, 4:56am. Jaime woke up and I told him it was baby time. He jumped up and was like "Are you pushing!?" Lol, I told him no, but it's time to get up. I never timed the contractions, but they were intense and coming quick. So I called my friend Mary so her son could come sit with the kids and she could come with us to take pictures. We started getting all the last minute things together so we could head out.
* When Mary and her son got to the house the contractions had slowed down a bit so we chitchatted for a min, gave instructions for when the kids woke up and then headed out. On the way to the hospital, a whole 5 min drive, I felt the baby move down and new she'd be here soon. I really didn't expect it to be so soon. We parked in the expectant mother parking and started to walk up to the building. Mary went ahead of us to get a wheelchair. We only made it a few feet when another contraction hit. I wrapped my arms around Jaime's neck and started to sway through it. When the contraction reached its peak my body started pushing on its own. I was like "Oh my God Jaime I'm pushing!" He told me not to, but I couldn't help it. He asked me if I could walk but I was starting to feel dizzy. The next contraction hit almost right away and I could feel the head starting to come out. So Jaime helped me sit and I leaned back against him while the rest of the head came out. By this time Mary was walking back towards us. Jaime yelled over to her that the head was out. She freaked out and went running back in for help. My water broke as another contraction hit, but I just breathed through this one. Mary and the guy from the front desk got there as another contraction hit and I started to deliver the body. Front dest guy was kinda freaking out saying that he's never delivered a baby. This was my fourth, one of which was a home birth, I knew what I was doing, as did Jaime. So when front desk guy took the baby from me and started telling me that he had to hold her down low so she could breathe I got mad and yelled at him to give me my baby. We laid her on my chest and Mary got a towel from my car to cover her with while we waited for help to arrive. We didn't find out the gender during the pregnancy, so I finally got to check. A girl! Gabriella Carina, in a hurry to meet us all. When the people from the er got there I asked what time it was, 5:50am. We figure she was born about 5 min before that. Less than an hour after I'd had my first contraction.* *They clamped and cut the cord and made sure baby was all wrapped up. Then they got us up on a gurney and wheeled us up to maternity. When we were in the room I delivered the placenta and they checked us over. No injuries to me, baby was perfect, 8lbs 2.8oz 20 3/4 inches long. As I type this she's not quite 15hours old, and she's amazing. A full head of thick dark hair, perfect little squishy nose and a champion nurser right from the start. I am so in love.* When I'm home and not on my iPad I'll update with some pics. The lense on Mary's camera fogged up outside so she was only able to take a couple from her phone while we were outside. Turns out the lense wasn't as fogged up as she thought. She didn't think the first few pictures came out, but here they are ![]() ![]() Front desk guy getting there as I'm about to deliver the body. ![]() Him reaching for her "so she could breath" ![]() ER people finally getting there. ![]() That Dr was awesome.
