prepping A+A blankets...

Aiden + Anais swaddle wraps weren't on my radar when I had DS. I just bought 8 for our newbie. They are still sitting in their boxes. Do I need to prep them? I'm nervous because half of them are bright colors ( B-jewelled) and I'm afraid the colors will run. Anyone have these? Did the colors run when you first washed them?

If I remember correctly they come pre-washed and wonderfully soft. You may want to wash them once so they will have your detergent on them instead of whatever may be left over from production. We didn't have those colors--but mine did have colors and they didn't run at all. They are awesome blankets--my 2.5 YO still loves hers, but crazy high, IMO!

Curious how your prepping goes. We just washed ours for the first time (not the bejeweled tones so no worry about color running) and they came out kind of crunchy and rough. I'm going to rewash them with different detergent to see if that helps. They were soooo soft before washing, I was pretty disappointed with the post-wash feel. FYI, I used Tide F&C and dried them in the dryer.

I just washed them like regular laundry. I have the patterned ones though. My kids love theirs. They drag them around and play with them all the time so they're super soft.

Really? That's wierd. When I first started reading I was thing "Oh, maybe she dried them on the line...(that does make them not-so-lovely)" but then I saw you used the dryer and it made me . Wonder what happened?

Mine have gotten softer and softer with washing and drying. I read somewhere that there is a difference between the originals and the A+A sold at Target?

I know the sizes are different. (Did a lot of research on these blankets--DD couldn't have polyester anything!) Target is 44" X 44", but the regular ones are 47" X 47". I have the target ones for the swaddle weight that I got SUPER cheap on clearance and they are awesome. Big enough for us. I have 2 of the winter weight blankets that I ordered online and they are the same material as the target ones. Both the winter weight and swaddle blankets have gotten softer with washing for me. I do wish the thick ones had some stitching across the middle to keep it from getting wonky in the wash. And I wish they made one in queen size, without a queen size price!

I LOVE mine. I'm having another baby in September so we are no where near ready to part with them. Good luck!
