Diaper Swappers

Hi Ladies!!
I have a friend who will be getting transferred to the UK before their baby arrives. They are planning on cloth diapering and I've been helping them as I can. But, I don't know how things are over in England in regards to cloth diapers, washing routines, diaper services, etc. Any advice you can give me to pass along? TIA!

There are diaper services, but they can be quite expensive.

There's a lot of WAHM shops and some of the cloth like BumGenius can be bought on the High Street now.

A really good website/forum in the UK is www.clothnappytree.com. Lots of info and diaper sellers and WAHM type shops too.

Good luck to your friend! I'm an American ex-pat too, so get in touch and we can exchange info if she wants hooked up with some ex-pat groups.

I'd also add http://www.naturalmamas.co.uk to have a look at, they also sell cloth nappies, but have other aspects of natural parenting, slings etc. They list meet ups by area as well.

Cloth diapers cost up to 2 times more in europe then in the US. I would buy and bring/ship.

I disagree for at least the UK. We were done with nappies by the time we got here, but the local shops near me have some really great looking nappies for around 10GBP some cheaper and some more expensive off course. They seem in line with American nappies. I was wishing I have seen these nappies earlier, they had a lot of what I loved about the super expensive Ragababe, but way cheaper, even with the exchange rate. http://www.borndirect.com/P2772/Pop-...n-Bamboo-Nappy they are made in the EU too.

Uk may be an exception, I know many people here order from the UK but for instance a flip organic is 10 euro here, once you convert that its over times more then cotton babies listed price.Cotton babies refuses to ship to europe actually no US seller is allowed, you have no choice but used private sales in the US or exorbanent ptices in GErmany.

Here flats and wool are the norm, those you find cheap. I have never seen anything else. Some online shops do exist but are prices are still 2x higher then the US, and even if from the UK marked up.

That said I only know the exoeriences of inland europeans-austra, france, germany ect, so UK may be a step ahead of the bunch, hopefully we catch up.

But if you want wool GErmany is the place to look, reversed situation disana costs us 13,45 new US shope charge 30. Everyone wants to make money where they can.

Look for Totsbots bamboozles in the UK - that is the brand most of my friends there used.

Its hard to find things cheaper than in the US sometimes. Lots of other countries have higher sales tax than in the US plus import taxes and fees. Although I believe the UK has no sales tax on children's clothing, not sure about diapers/nappies.

you can pick up some cheap diapers in the UK, depending on where she is going there are even a few actual shops (I have one of them lol) But if you go on this site you can find your nearest retailer either online or in real www.goreal.org.uk
