Diaper Swappers

I spent money on things I wanted... Now I spend as little as possible and make everything I can... Saving up the rest to do fun things with my kids.

Everything I did was about me and for me ... Now most days I don't even think once about my needs...my kids are first ALL the time.

I thought I knew what parenting would be like. It's a hundred times better and way more tiring

Before kids ~

I had the perfect body & great hair. Now I have a flabby body & my hair is a hot mess.

I was always dressed nicely, made up & NEVER wore glasses in public. Now I rarely wear make up, I wear my glasses all the time & my clothes, sweats & t's for home. Jeans & t's for out.

I bought all my unmentionables at VS. Now they come from 3 packs at Walmart.

I had a super tidy small apartment. Now I have a messy big house.

I read all the time ~ books & magazines. Now I read DS.

I could actually get in the tub & finish my bath in peace. Now I get fast showers while baby screams in the crib.

I could lavish my "daughter" aka my then BF now DH's daughter with amazing clothes, killer toys & loads of fun trips then send her home. Now I have 3 of my own that get few fun trips, hand me downs & loads of toys from Grammy.

I wouldn't trade my kids for anything!

Too funny. I NEVER went out without makeup. Now, ehh.who has the time?
And i buy walmart undies now. Long gone are the tiny thongs. Dont have time to keep string out of my butt when I'm running after the kids

Before: I worked out 5x week and thought nothing of getting home from work/gym at 7pm. Now: I can't bear the thought of being even 5 mins late, so I wake up at 4am to pick up DD at 415!
Before: I had a subscription to Bon Appetit and thought nothing of spending 3 hrs making dinner. Now: If I can't make it in 24 mins it isn't in the rotation.
Before: i didnt like shopping and never went to the mall. Now: i still dont like shopping :-) but we go to the mall occasionally so DD can ride the train.
Before: a 4 hour happy hour with friends or coworkers was a regular thing. Now: yeah, lol, that would take a month of planning and I would have one drink
Before: we would go to a bar (esp today selection sunday!) or snowboarding etc for fun. Now: i am spending the afternoon with my PL'ing 2Yo, sticking pompons to a piece of packing tape over and over and over. And i think its the greatest thing ever!

Before I was a parent I didn't hesitate to spend money on myself. Now I never buy myself things. I always want to buy the kids stuff!

Before I was a parent:

I could shop by myself

I could decide on a whim to leave the house, grab my purse and keys and go

DH and I went to several sporting events per year

We traveled frequently to visit family

My horses actually got ridden once in a while and were not strictly pasture ornaments

We watched movies in the theatre at least a few times per month

I did not know all the Disney Junior characters names, and I could not sing every single theme song

All in all, live has changed but I wouldn't trade it for anything!!!

Also - I have been BFFs with the same girls since HS.

We used to discuss the plans for next weekend, how drunk we were last weekend, hot movie stars, and who didnt like someone elses boyfriend.
Now we are all married and 3/4 have kids. When we get together we:
First discuss how freaking long it's been since we've seen each other.
Ask if DS is eating more, if DD is walking more, if DD is sleeping longer, etc.
Ask if your kid is as into XYZ as my kid is. Where exactly can you find Lazytown stuff.
Whose DH is driving them nuts and why. Whose MIL is acting crazy. Our mortgages and car insurance rates.
The great new mommy blog / way to get coupons / babyproofing gear.
Our latest pinterest exploits.

Sometimes we laugh and think WHAT happened to us?!

I don't buy myself much either. I bought myself some Wen last night and promptly cancelled the order this morning. Mommy guilt (plus I have 3 bottles from a while ago) wins again.

Before I had kids, I'd think "I can't do that",After kids, I do it all because I have to!

Before I had kids, I brushed my hair, straightened my hair, and spent at least an hour daily making it right. After kids, there are days I just finger comb & twist it up into a bun.

Before kids, I had a make up bag in my purse. After kids, I have a purse with no make-up in my diaper bag.

Before kids, I watched HBO and Jerry Springer. After kids, I don't have cable and all videos are rated PG in this house.

Before kids, I could swear like a sailor. After kids, I don't even say "darn" anymore unless I'm talking about mending something.

Before kids, I thought love was romance. After kids, I know love is so much more.

Before kids, I'd clean my house in 30 minutes. After kids,What's a clean house?
