I was induced with both so from the time they put me in the labor and delivery bed Dd1 took 3hrs 55mins. Dd2 took 6hrs 45mins but 1 of the nurses turned the pit completely off when I got the epi so it probably would have been faster had we noticed what she did before 2 freaking hours went by.

Re: How long was the labor with your second lo?
DS: water broke at 9p, went to hospital, at 9a I still wasn't having noticeable ctx, which was unacceptable to the OBs. pit (and ctx) started at 10a, delivered at 5:30p. I consider my labor w/ him to be 7.5hrs.
DD: mild ctx started overnight, but nothing I couldn't sleep thru, water broke at 5a, ctx picked up by 5:30a, arrived at hospital at 7a, was only 3cm, but delivered at 9a I consider her labor to be a little under 4hrsso, for me, #2 took half the time, and that was with augmentation with #1, maybe it would have taken longer without? (or maybe not, since hanging out all night in the hospital hooked up to monitors and stuck in bed isn't really conducive to birthing babies!

Re: How long was the labor with your second lo?
With my first labor was 6.5 hours from first contraction to birth
My second was 5.5 hours, but I was in denial that I was in labor for the first 2 hours. By the time we decided to go to the hospital and got there and checked in he was born about 90 minutes later. Then my 3rd threw me for a loop and we had a 17.5 hour labor |

Re: How long was the labor with your second lo?
DS1 was 20 hours from the time my contractions started to the time they called for his c-section.
DS2 was around 10 hours from the time my contractions started to the time he was born.

Re: How long was the labor with your second lo?
First was 5 hours start-to-finish, second was 2.5 hours. So pretty much textbook half the time
![]() But, the second was a LOT more intense. So I think that I might have preferred the 5 hour one.

Re: How long was the labor with your second lo?
First was 8.5 hrs from the time my OB broke my water (induced) and I had no ctx prior. Second was 2.5 hrs from the time my water broke, also no ctx prior.

Re: How long was the labor with your second lo?
I followed the "half of your first labor" rule.
DS1 my water broke at 9pm, contractions started about half hour later. Labor was about 8 hours total, with 1.5-2 hours of pushing. I was already 4cm before my water broke though. DS2, mild contractions began around 430am. Wasn't even sure if they were real TBH. Called the midwife when they were 10minute apart, told me to wait. As soon as I hung up the phone they went to 4-5 minutes apart. I delivered him 7 minutes after getting to the hospital, the entire labor was about 4 hours total. I was at least 3cm before labor started this time.
