Have also made this as a freezer meal &/or in the crockpot & it turns out great. We like it with sour cream & shredded cheese & cornbread on the side. My kids love this!

Re: Name your Favorite Cookbook

I have 100+ cookbooks and don't think I have a favorite. I use different ones for different things. I have my favorite pie book, my favorite bread book, my favorite Mexican book, etc.

My favorite recipe I would have to say is spaghetti. It was passed to me from my mother and comes from no cookbook I have ever owned. I make homemade garlic bread to go with it.

Re: Name your Favorite Cookbook

I have one of those Gooseberry cookbooks and I like a chicken pot pie in it. But mostly I'm on the internet looking for new recipes. I read the comments a lot. But if I do actually buy a cookbook, it it used, very cheap, and has a picture on every page.

Re: Name your Favorite Cookbook

Oh wow I have so many cookbooks....probably Cook's Illustrated '1000 Best REcipes'....some of the recipes are a bit time consuming but there are some great ones. Their chicken pot pie is the best and we all love it and make it regularly, so I'd say that is a whole family favorite.

My favorite recipes come from magazines. A lot of the time it's Real Simple. My favorite is Creamy Chicken and Spinach pasta. Just had that last week. LOVE it. I also love Campbell's recipes.

Hard to pick just one but I would have to say The New Farm Vegetarian Cookbook would be at the top. The TVP chili and spaghetti are regulars here and save us lots of money. Also like the sloppy joes and the soft sandwich buns... have't made much from that book that we didn't love LOL. Oh and I also love allrecipes.com too!

Julia Child's "Mastering the Art of French Cooking"; reads like a textbook, love her writing tone, and I always feel like I'm at cooking school. Favorite recipe: her exquisite chocolate mousse!
