Bamboo and hemp inserts
I'm looking to convert from microfiber to either hemp or bamboo.
1- which do you prefer: hemp or bamboo and why? 2- what brand do you recommend? My daughter is 10 months old and can be a VERY heavy wetter! 💦💦💦 Thanks for all your help!!! |

Re: Bamboo and hemp inserts
Bamboo is my favorite. They don't shrink or curl like hemp does. We love the rumparooz bamboo inserts!

Re: Bamboo and hemp inserts
I've found hemp to be a little more absorbent but I love the feel of bamboo fabrics more (plus it's usually trimmer). I made my own bamboo prefolds and inserts so I'm no help with brands.

Re: Bamboo and hemp inserts
Organic Bamboo Velour is the most absorbant I have found. I also LOVE Thirsties hemp/cotton inserts because they are super trim and absorbant. That is what I switched all my pockets too, bc it was more cost effective than the OBV I found. I do use OBV fitteds for nighttime and they are awesome!

Re: Bamboo and hemp inserts
I like to use two inserts in my pockets - closest to the bum a bamboo that absorbs quickly and then under a hemp that holds more. It gives the absorbency of the hemp but not the super stiffness that all hemp can have when wet.

Re: Bamboo and hemp inserts
I had both and was curious so about a month ago I did a little experiment. I was surprised to learn that bamboo performed better than hemp. I use bamboo prefolds in flips now, although most of my stash are BG Freetimes and Elementals.

Re: Bamboo and hemp inserts
And by the way, my favorite hemp was Babykicks premium, never curled. Thirsties curled horribly and took forever to dry. Thirsties have a really loyal following though. I have inserts for sale if anyone is interested.
