Can someone tell me..

If I'm brewing a pot of coffee (using a Mr. Coffee drip maker), would the first part of the stream be stronger, or the last?

In other words, if I cannot wait for the whole pot to get done so I drink the first 8 oz cups that drips into the pot... is that liqueur WAYYY strong?

There's a reason I'm asking is that lately there are times that I've gotten sick after drinking coffee .. and I *think* it happens whenever I do that. Could that be it?

I don't have an answer for your question but are you sure you are not pg? I could never drink tea on an empty stomach when I was pg.

Nope, can't be pg, unless the urologist botched DH's V 3 years ago. :-)

And it's only sometimes that this happens. On the days I feel sick though, I definitely feel an unpleasantly thick and bitter taste to the coffee as I'm drinking it.. but idiotically brave through the cup anyway so as not to waste it.

It wouldn't be stronger, at least not significantly so.

Yes, the first cup of a brew is significantly stronger.

I would think it would be stronger for sure, as someone has obviously quantified although I didn't follow the link.

Switch to the low-tech French press way and these troubles go away. Poof! And the coffee tastes better too.
