would you get an A.G. doll for your son?

we got the magazine in the mail and my son was super interested in the dolls and the accessories. hes always like sorta girly things along with his boyish things, but is this too girly? would it be weird?

Sure, if he asked for one.

I have requirements for my kids to get expensive things like that. They have to be ready to take good care of it and they must really really really want it. Not just 'oh that's neat, I'd like it.' If they do both those things then yes I would, whether it was my son or daughter.

Re: would you get an A.G. doll for your son?

If he really wanted one. Both of my boys collect dolls so it isn't a big deal here. When I was a kid I wanted an AG and never got one. My parents said I wouldn't play with it. They were probably right, I didn't actually like dolls. I was just interested in the historical dolls. I collect ABJDs now and my boys have been around them since they were tiny. Kearnan asked for his first when he was 9 and Tharen asked when he was 5. There is a bit of a taboo in the collector community about giving them to kids because they are expensive and thought of as an adults only collectible but my kids love them so rather than buy junk toys they won't play with I buy them what they actually want. I don't think of dolls as being only for girls and I don't care if they are expensive (though that does tend to mean my kids only get one gift for birthdays or Christmas).

I got the same catalogue this week and was totally thinking about if I could get DS a bitty baby when he's a little older! I say if he wants one and would play with it, then absolutely. (Ever heard of the song 'William Wants a Doll'?)

No. But I wouldn't get one for DD either. They aren't in our budget. Plus I only have one DS and he wouldn't want one.

Re: would you get an A.G. doll for your son?

Absolutely. I have spent plenty on Waldorf dolls for my youngest DS. He loves them. If he decided that he wanted an AG I would get it for him. I think boys should have to opportunity to have nice dolls just like a girl if they want them.
