Re: How much do you pay for childcare?
Cheese and crackers (as DH would say)!!!! We are paying $389 per week for DD (center based, under-2 rates). This includes b'fast, lunch, and snack when she is there. This is the full 5-day rate, but we only use 3.5 days most weeks.
Apparently the rate drops significantly when she turns two, but it is like bleeding money. Unfortunately I have run the numbers... it's waaaaay worth it for me (and DH, although less so) to pay this and keep working. The flexibility and generally great care make it worth the steep price. Note: that is about the going rate for under-2 spots in center based care, in our area. HCL, you could say...

Re: How much do you pay for childcare?
Around here the going rate for full time care is ~$40/day/child, although they frequently will discount subsequent children after the first. Considering I only make about ~$90/day, I'd pretty much have to stop working if I didn't work opposite shifts with my DH. This is for children about 1 year through age 4 - with year long mat leave it's rare for young infants to be in daycare, and kindergarten here starts the year they turn 4. Some schools are every other day, some every day and they're all supposed to be every day all day starting the next year or two. I'll be looking into after care for both girls shortly, as DH and my schedule sometimes overlaps slightly.

Re: How much do you pay for childcare?
We pay $411 a month for full-day pre-kindergarten (no aftercare required).
Then we also pay $250/week (about $1000/month) for 2 kids in a licensed home daycare. I'm in ND, a relatively low COL state.
