Yes and no. Your hymen can break for many different things, LONG before you have sex. Just using tampons can break it. My was broken long before I had sex for the first time at 17 b/c I rode horses for years and wore tampons from when my period first started at 12. I was definitely still a virgin, though.

This. I think it applies to anyone who has not had penetration.
