I need some advice regarding a teenage babysitter we had been using. Specifically, should I tell her parents about the following incident?

Dd (8) told Dh recently that E (the teenage sitter) had her boyfriend over while she was watching her. And--this is the part that makes me furious--E asked dd to promise not to tell Dh and I. I asked dd how she felt about the time she spent with E and E's boyfriend, she said it was fun. It doesn't sound like anything 'bad' happened. But...I am seething mad that anyone (let alone a caregiver) would tell a child to keep something from their parents. That line should never be crossed, and the sitter should definitely know better.

Clearly, we are NEVER having this girl watch our child again. What I am struggling with is whether or not we should inform E's parents that she had her boyfriend over. WWYD?

tell. and tell all of the other parents you know in the area about it to warn them. Babysitter does not have the kids best interest at heart.

Absolutely. I did the same thing, but after the kid went to bed. Looking back, It was a disaster waiting to happen. No accountability and i was ruining the trust I had from my parents and the family I was babysitting for. I was pregnant about 6 months later. So, yeah, definitely tattle about this one!

Most of all I'd be upset about her having your child keep a secret!

We had a baby sitter rent **** on our cable when he baby sat for us. I was furious and I understand the feeling of having trust shattered, esp. when it comes to your kid.

Since you are never going to use her services again, there will not be any discomfort in tattling on her. She may also be wondering why you aren't calling her back and this will make it perfectly clear.

As the mom of a teenager, I would absolutely want to know if my daughter did something as stupid as this.
