tampa fl. schools etc

Hi ladies, we are moving to Tampa and looking for advice on schools and nice areas. Thanks!!

I live in Orlando but my best friend has lived in Tampa for 10 years. She suggests Tampa Palms (golf course community with club house) or Temple Terrace area if you can afford it. North Tampa is usually nicer and more of a 'community'. The university of south Florida is in that area as well, so if you don't like colleges, you might want to avoid.

Now my friend lives on Davis Island, which is downtown. She doesn't have any kids. I wouldn't recommend that area of town for kids, but you might enjoy being close by if you commute to the city for work or if you like entertainment. The Glazer Children's Museum is downtown and it is awesome. My 3 yr old DD loved it. There are always movies in the park and fun stuff too. Very bike and pedestrian friendly.

The fairgrounds and the Hard Rock Casino are also a big hit if you like that type of stuff, but I wouldn't live near there.... too touristy

Do you know where in Tampa you'll be moving? I live in Westchase and I luff it. My daughter goes to the Waldorf school in Palm Harbor. We are a military family though, and will be moving very soon down to South Tampa onto the base. There are lots of cloth diapering, baby wearing mamas here! Yay!
