how soon....?
Is there a hard and fast rule about how long it has to be after a c-section before you can have a vaginal birth? I had a scheduled c-section with my first child because she was breech, almost 11 lbs, and had the cord wrapped around her neck. I REALLY want (ed) a vaginal birth. I have a feeling I might be pregnant again, and if I am there would have been only 13 months between births. I was 23 at the time of the section and healed super well and fast with no complications. Thoughts? Advice?
Thanks!!! |

Re: how soon....?
I think 18 months is the general recommendation but it's not impossible to VBAC sooner.

Re: how soon....?
I'm due in just under two months, and my c-section was 11 months ago, so I'll be having 13 months between deliveries, and hoping for a VBAC.

Re: how soon....?
I had a c-section with my first, then a VBAC with my second. They are 15.5 months apart. I had hoped to be able to VBA2C with my current pregnancy and contacted a midwife for her recommendations. She says 18 months between births is plenty. Honestly tough, I think if your healed well, no issues, your fine! I know I have heard of less than that in between a c-section and vbac.

Re: how soon....?
It depends on your care provider. My midwife recommends 18+ months.

My kiddos were 13.5 months apart (I was two weeks "late"). I ended up with a c/s after an induced TOL. Neither of the vbac supportive docs I saw were concerned about how close the births would be.

Re: how soon....?
When I was pregnant with my second my midwife said they recomended to wait 18 months, but would take woman who were as close as 12-13 months. They would keep a closer eye on the woman who were less then 18 months are required that they have at least one ultrasound, while the rest of their clients they did not push ultrasounds as hard.

Re: how soon....?
Just wanted to update. I'm due in just a week and a half! Eeek! Everything is still a go for a VBAC. Just waiting patiently.
