Oh Liz Honey! All my prayers yomin your way sweetie!!!! You are truely a kind owner to know when to end it. I respect that. Working with the vet for so long. People refused to put animals in extream shock down. I'm a huge advocate of honoring the love of an animal with a kind mercyfull end. Just cherish every last second. I'm glad you got a good warning and had the time to give extra love and get more memmories.

So, all my gals except the buckeyes, 1 cochin, and the rsl have started to lay. The br's have picked up production. All of this and I'm now getting 6 measly eggs a day.

Today I went and got a bag of cracked corn $12, sweet feed $12, and layer pellets ?$16. Also got some vet wrap $3 and blue kote $7. With 10 % tax, I spent my Christmas money, lol. Money well spent. Now I can't do % worth a darn, but the total was $50. Well, that was an easy #, $55 with tax. It should last a while though. The girls were going bonkers over the mix! Couldn't get enough. I have never seen them like that. Gonna have to start feeding in smaller groups.

Anyone elese mix their feed? I have ads up everywhere for unwanted fallen apples, field pumpkins, ect. Prob all tilled in though.

Then-
I have 12 chickens but I am not a great chicken mama.
(This is like self help for the farmer in me!)
One chicken is called Lucy, she is slightly taller, thinner and bigger
The other eleven are called Henny Penny cause I can't tell them apart.
I don't know what breed they are AND purchased them "ready to lay".

Our girls are free range, today that meant being on my patio on my POOL table, under the trampoline and perched on a sheep. They are supposed to stay in the barn yard and pasture but hop the fences and frequently need shooshing back over.
I like having them here and we are planning to get about 20 more. I want to put more planning into the next batch we get as our first girls were bought quickly for our farm status and not because we wanted that breed. I hope one day I can hatch them as I am hoping they will then let me touch them - ours are gently herded places but not picked up.
