Re: If you had a big pot of chili on the stove for dinner...
A bowl with a spoon! I would put the bowl on a small plate to hold crackers.

Re: If you had a big pot of chili on the stove for dinner...
So is it a common thing to eat PB sandwiches with chili?? A couple of people have mentioned it so far and that combo has never even entered my mind! We usually have cornbread, corn tortillas or crackers. As for the original question, we use bowls and spoons but I have an authentic Mexican cookbook from the 70's and the picture for chili they are using plates...but it's just chunks of meat in a chile sauce and they would use tortillas to sop it all up.

Bowl and spoon, and some home made fresh bread. YUM (and that is actually what we're having for supper tonight)

Re: If you had a big pot of chili on the stove for dinner...
I would only use a fork if I was making chili mac, because I would be twirling the noodles on the fork. But I usually just make regular chili without the noodles because the rest of the family prefers the chili to be noodle free.
But, I would never put it on a plate lol. Of course chili goes in a bowl! lol

I do make chilli think enough to be eaten with a fork lol but it belongs in a bowl and eaten with a spoon. Cornbread or crackers are placed on top on the side ( or fritos are put in the bottom for frito pie

Bowls and spoons. It never even occurred to me to use plates, but honestly our chili would probably be thick enough to eat that way. Esp with some crumbled corn bread in it. Mmm...
And now I'm hungry. Lol |
