The Birth Story of my first baby- Liam Michael
This may be a little choppy because I am running on little sleep but I really want to record this while it's clear in my mind
![]() I was scheduled for an induction for monday morning on thursday. I wasn't to happy and just had a feeling that baby Liam had some other plans of making his way into this world. I was checked and was 2 cm dilated and 90% effaced on friday at my appointment. I went home that night and started having what felt like strong period cramps at 8:30-9:30 coming at around 10 to 15 minutes apart and lasting a minute or so. I figured I'd go to bed and real labor would wake me up. Sure enough at around 3:00 am I woke up with cramps and went to the bathroom at around 3:30 am my water broke in my bed. I got up and began to get ready to leave for the hospital. The contractions were still 10 minutes apart and lasting 30 to 40 seconds. Got admitted at around 5:00 am and they checked me I was 3 cm. I begun to get pitocin because I wasn't getting contractions as often as they wanted at around 12 noon. I went until about 3:00 pm without the epidural but I was having terrible back labor and they were moving me in all kinds of positions due to the babies heart rate was dropping during my contractions and they wanted to see if they could get him in a different position. That wasn't working so they started pumping fluid up into my uterus to make more room for him. His head wasn't engaging like they wanted it to and was facing my right side. Unfortunately during this my midwife was delivering someone else's baby at a birthing inn so I was given a hospital doctor who wasn't my favorite... (not used to having a man). He was also pushing the thought of a c-section to get baby out. I went until 7 pm with trying everything to avoid the c-section but his heart rate was going lower and lower (the cord was also squeezing his neck). So at around 7:25 I was wheeled out of the room to get a c-section. The medicine they gave me for numbing went straight up to my lungs and I didn't have any feeling of breathing and I begun to panic so they put me out. (thank god actually because it was the scariest feeling and moment of my life) He was delivered at 7:46 pm (November 15th) and was taken to my family while I was stitched up. I was done at 9:15 ish and met my beautiful baby boy. The nurses immediately placed him on my chest to breast feed and helped him get latched. He was struggling and I was given a breast shield to help him. He is feeding nicely with it now but I'm trying to wean him off of it because I know it's not the ideal way but right now I'm just focused on recovering and getting him what he needs. I couldn't be more in love and I'm so thankful for all the kind nurses I had. I was released today at 12 noon. So far I'm in a lot of pain but hopefully will subside and I can be able to start taking care of my boy more on my own (right now my mom is helping out so much)

Re: The Birth Story of my first baby- Liam Michael
Congratulations! He looks like his Mama and is a cute boy. I'm glad you didn't have to have an induction because it's good for baby for you to go into labor when ready. I hope that you recover very smoothly and quickly! Enjoy your babymoon!
