So I'm going for a 4D u/s tomorrow, and then we're going to take the kids to see Santa and go to the night lite up Holiday parade since we'll already be in the city Now we need to decide how to tell our families, the kids won't be able to keep the secret for long

hope I get those this time DD never did any of that. She'd punch my hips and sometimes kick my ribs, but she stayed in the same head down position the whole time, I'm pretty sure.

that's why I'm getting a little worried that this baby is breech. My babies don't seem to move. Maybe it's the shape of my uterus or my long torso.

I'm getting more frequent movements now - yay! but at 20 weeks, I think this is about the same as what I ever really got with DD until the end.

If I ever started doing kick counts, it would usually take almost the whole 2 hours to get the allotted number. but hiccups every day I love baby hiccups.

I kwym about the worries. DS2 was breech at 28 weeks (had an u/s because of increased fluid) and some part of me just knew that he was going to stay that way. I think he flipped a few times between then and getting wedged, but when he got stuck, he was breech.

Are you "supposed" to always do kick counts? My Dr. said that I never really needed to do them unless something was wrong or there was something out of the ordinary - lots of cramps, more BH ctx than normal, spotting, anything like that. I never did regular kick counts.

I thought something like 40% of babies are breech at 20 weeks? DS's ob clinic said baby's position at 20 weeks had no bearing on how he'd end up. Is that not true?

My last OB clinic did not have us count kicks. They said to make sure I had movement throughout the day, but that was it. Granted (as you can tell from my question/comment above) I dont have complete faith in that clinic anymore.

I think for most people, there's no worry.. it's just that my DD seemed to stay in the same position all the time and I just worry that this one won't move either. Golly, we tried for a good 45minutes to get the baby to move during the ultrasound and baby wouldn't budge an inch.

and no, I know we don't do kick counts now, I mean with DD, even at like 36 weeks, it would take 2 hours to get all 10 counts. I get jealous of people who say their babies wake them up and such. I just don't get those types of movements. I really think it has something to do with my long torso and the great expanse of room that baby has in there. Women with shorter torsos seem to get more expressive kicks.

I have checked out spinningbabies.. sheesh.. talk about an overwhelming website! I don't even know where to start!

Personally, I don't think it's necessary to do them religiously, like every day or something. But maybe every week or 2. Definitely if you notice any changes in baby's movement, I would do them for a few days, just to be on the safe side.
I think I did them from time to time with my babies, but mostly I would just wait for their normal "patterns". If they didn't seem to be awake/moving at a normal active time for them, I would actually count and really pay attention to the movements - as opposed to just feeling/enjoying them, kwim?

At 20 weeks it is normal for baby to be, really, in any position - there's still lots of fluid and room in there for them to swim and move around in. Come another 6-10 weeks, and, at least for me, if baby was head down they stayed that way and if they weren't (ahem, DS2), they stayed that way as well.
But even that's not a real "rule". Truly, baby has room to flip and turn up until 36 weeks or so, and still could move (though it's not very comfortable at all for mama, from what I've heard) up until birth.

Gotcha. I did wonder, after posting, if you meant with her or this baby. Just didn't feel like deleting or editing!

Yes, there is a TON of info on there - or was when I looked at it with DS2, and probably is more now. I've heard the ice trick (putting ice high on your belly) works, and apparently being upside down. But at this point I wouldn't worry too much about those things, just maybe any suggestions they have for sitting or whatnot.

This baby is definitely sideways! Haha. You can distinctly feel a head on the left and a butt/legs (when he kicks) on the right. The head is slightly lower, but for the most part he's totally crooked. Lol

I had something weird happen tonight! Baby seemed to stretch (I could feel his feet off to the right) and then I had like a weird half contraction... It felt like a contraction, but it seemed to be isolated to the very lowest part of my uterus??... It was nothing at all like the BH I have been having, and even DH felt it and was a little weirded out. When we palpated, it was like soft, pliable uterus, you could feel a little bit of baby here and there, and once you got to like the lowest 25% it was hard as a rock! Like my whole uterus would be during a normal contraction. This happened twice and that was it. How strange?! Does anyone know what this was? Pardon my ignorance :S

Also - I think we might have finally chosen a name! now we have to decide if we are going to tell anyone (IRL... Hehe ). Baby's first name is my maternal grandfather's middle name, so it is definitely an emotionally "loaded" name...

We haven't decided which name he will go by yet... Obviously we don't get to determine that forever but I try to keep as many people as possible from calling Gabriel "Gabe" (ugh... Southerners, always trying to shorten/nickname stuff! Lol). DH is a little more comfortable with, say "Alex", obviously, but I am very attached to Galen. I miss him so much! I wish he was around to see my little family. I'm so glad DH appreciated me wanting to use his name. Really, really, even MORE than I was before excited to meet this little guy! Every "milestone" makes it a little more real, kwim?
