Teachers, $?
If you're a teacher, are married to a teacher, know a teacher, etc: where do you live and what salary do teachers start at?
Just curious.

Re: Teachers, $?
When I taught in NJ I started at $40,000 and I made extra $ with extra curricular activities
Just wanted to add that that was awhile ago. I think I started in 2003

Teachers here in NE FL start around $34,000 with a bachelor's degree, around $1,000 more a year with a Master's.

Re: Teachers, $?
They start at $30,000 here in Maine with a bachelors, $33,000 with a Master's, certain districts start higher but that is the base. Benefits (health, dental, etc.) vary widely between districts too. DH is a teacher and looked at not only starting salary but what the districts offered benefits wise too when he was applying for other jobs after DD was born so I thought I'd add that fact in too.

I live in the houston area, and starting pay with a bachelor's is around $47k, depending on the district. A master's adds $1k to $1500 more.

Albuquerque, nm- we are on a 3 tier scale which is generally $29,000, $39,000 and $49,000. You start out at $29,000, after 5 years write and pass a dossier and move to tier 2. In order to get to tier 3 you must have a masters, pass another dossier and have been teaching for 8 years or be nationally certified.
