My prefolds are not soft :(
I have unbleached prefolds that are not very soft at all. They even have a bit of pilling
. I don't know why. I don't remember which ones I bought, but I got them from Cotton Babies. I don't think they are the Indian ones. I do the normal wash routine of cold wash, hot wash with double rinse. I have used homemade detergent, Nellies, and Tide, but there hasn't been a difference in how they feel. I have also used vinegar to try to soften them up, but it hasn't really worked. Any ideas for softening them up?Thank you!

Are you over drying them? I find if you dry them after they're dry they get rough.

Hmm, I will wash and dry again and see. How long do you recommend I dry them if there's a full load of 12 or so diapers?

Re: My prefolds are not soft :(
I order Ecover fabric softener from vitacost, I'm pretty sure there are several online retailers. Target (I believe) carries Mrs. Meyers and method fabric softeners, which are also recommended. You want a plant-based softener for diapers.

Mrs. Myers softener works really well too. I found it at our local grocery store - Winn Dixie.

Re: My prefolds are not soft :(
How long have you been using them? I bought prefolds from 3 different retailers and they were all rough till using them heavily (no softener) for about 2 months and now they're cottony and soft. They were pilly for awhile too before they softened up.
