Night time for Newborns
Okay, I've never cd'ed a newbie before. What is best to use at night for newbies?
I'm buying a stash for my cousin. So far, I have 14 newborn pockets, 2 dozen infant prefolds, 3 size 1 thirsties covers, 2 wet bags and 2 pail liners. I'm planning to buy orange edge prefolds and more covers this weekend. What else (besides ) do I need to get? I'm trying to stay cheap since I'm buying every bit of this. I'm planning to get her some detergent and CJ's butter to start with as well. Hopefully, I'll get some cloth wipes as well. Advertisement |

sounds pretty good. i ended up buying 3 geffen baby hemp inserts to stuff my nb simplex with. DD sleeps through the night already and needed some extra absorbancy. might be something to consider.

Re: Night time for Newborns
I mean I've never had to use a night diaper on a true newborn. They are eating and pooping around the clock so I just diaper the same way as during the day. We just change with every feed. Once they are sleeping longer stretches of 5-6 hours and not pooping then I switch but by that point they were all out of newborn sizes anyway. Hemp Babies doublers are good though to add for longer stretches since they are thin and won't overwhelm a small baby. I wouldn't worry about getting her detergent since she can just use whatever she uses for clothes to start.

Okay! I'll look those up. I knew that what I used with my toddler would be way too big. Her last baby was only 6 lbs at 40 weeks. After the new year, I'm going to try to get her some OS dipes and some more covers. At least I get to shop for diapers I guess. Lol!

Re: Night time for Newborns
My newbie is 9 weeks now and i have just recently started adding 1 small flannel doubler to his nighttime diaper (usually a snappid prefold or small osocozy fitted). He sleeps 7 hours now, but the first month or so, when he was waking every 2-4 hours to nurse, nothing extra was necessary.

Re: Night time for Newborns
what an awesome cousin you are!! ive never CDed a newborn, but im slowly building my stash since im 3.5 mos with my 3rd and planning to start from day 1. i saw some pretty awesome wool doublers for sale that were expensive, so decided to knit my own to fit inside orange edge prefolds and workhorses. i plan to use them at night in hopes that it will buy me some extra time if there isnt a poop explosion. just my 2 cents...good luck!

Another question.
Would the purple edge of these prefolds: http://www.mysweetpickles.com/OsoCoz...pers_p_91.html Work okay for a newbie? I bought them on BF and intended on buying some orange edge gmd as well, but after looking at the dimensions they seem similar In size. Wdyt? |
