Re: I've spent $732 on diapers... And my first baby's due in March.
I actually don't think it's too much because you are planning to resell what doesn't work for you right away (you may find that you even make back more than you paid for some items, too). The 17 training pants and 55 covers is maybe the only thing that stands out as a bit excessive to me. (I have 5 dozen prefolds that I don't even use as diapers....they are strictly for spit up and clean up, and I use instead of paper towels. I originally thought it was too many but the weird thing is I keep running out.)

Re: I've spent $732 on diapers... And my first baby's due in March.
I thought the trainers would be good for EC... They're the smallest sizes-- about 12-18 months. In fact, I'm guessing that'll be at least 1/2 of what we use after about 9-12 months?

That does not sound excessive at all! $800 is about avg for a complete OS stash.
And having so many covers is totally normal too. There are just soooo many kinds, sizes and prints out there, even if you bought 1 at a time all the way from birth to potty you'd have ended up with at least that many. LOL! Covers realllllly vary a lot depending on the brand. And as baby changes shape it's so tempting to try to find just that perfect fit because just buying 1 or 2 new covers isn't that expensive ![]() Now what would be super fun for us is if you got a shot of ea dipe on your LO so we can see the difference. Hehe

ummm. wow. you did well, but i still think your cloth diaper addicted. LOL. try to lay low until baby comes so you can justify buying more of what works for you. You can limit your self to one tiny purchase a month to ease your diaper buying itch.
good luck.

And I thought my numbers were bad ;-) Like others said, not too bad considering the long term savings and how many you have! good job!

Re: I've spent $732 on diapers... And my first baby's due in March.
Thank you, and me too! Especially considering the brands, I guess.
It's not an exhaustive list, but off the top of my head, the brands I have are: -Fuzzibunz -Bummis -Thirsties -Blueberry/Swaddlebees -BumGenius/Flips -Bumkins -Grovia -Kissaluvs -GMD -Little Lions -Osocozy -Mutts -Goodmamas -Little Boppers -Emotibums -Imse Vimse -Motherease -Nikki/Niji (sp?) -Vintage Curity (the only "free" gift, from my grandmother) -Charlie Banana -Little Beetles -Sugar Plum -Gen-Y -Proraps -A few homemade ...I think that covers almost everything, LOL. So, mostly, what I guess are considered... maybe not "luxury" brands, per se, but non-"economy" brands, anyway. Most bought used, of course, but probably 25% new. |
