Surprised!
Pleasantly surprised to find this thread in the cloth diaper forum!
We are foster parents to drug affected newborns. Have been for 2 years. We love it! Most of the time LOL. It can be exhausting and emotional. But the rewards are great. We hope to adopt an infant of 2 some day. No bio children of our own - in fact I just had to have an emergency hysterectomy. We are adopting 3 older children - siblings. Waiting on mom to either sign off, or trial. Will be glad when that is done and we can give them permanency - no more worrying about going back. |

Welcome!
I'm glad you found us. There are lots of foster moms here and often times questions come up about how a certain drug may affect a baby, so I'm sure you will be a great added resource for us.

I have had many over the years. Have a 4 week old sleeping in my lap now. Afraid to move because he only sleeps about 2 hours a day!

Re: Surprised!
Nice to meet you! We are open to fostering drug addicted babies, but we've not had the experience as of yet. Currently fostering a 5 wk old and might possibly be taking her 2 y/o sister within the next few weeks. This is a wonderful forum!

Re: Surprised!
Hello!
We do not take just drug affected newborns, but two of our five placements have been drug addicted or exposed newborns. Surprisingly the baby we have now we got right from the hospital was not drug affected (possibly marijuana exposed but that's nothing in the world of CPS and she didn't test positive) and she might be one who stays forever.
