17 months old up before sunrise
Let me preface by saying I know all babies/kids are different, BUT whenever I mention to someone IRL that DD does not sleep past 6am, they all look at my like I'm crazy. Help me feel normal!
DD goes down about 8pm and is almost always up before 6am. We've tried putting her to bed later, but it doesn't matter. She's always up before the sun comes up! Sometimes (and this is a very rare occasion) she will sleep until 6:30 or 7. It's amazing how much better I feel when I get that extra hour of sleep. Do any of you other mamas have really early risers at your house? I'm beginning to think I will never sleep in again!

Re: 17 months old up before sunrise
My first son would do similarly. Except his was I will only sleep so many hours. Go to bed at 8 up at six, go to bed at 7 up at 5, nap an extra hour during the day and go to bed at 7 up at 4. He did nap during the day but if it was longer than usual it meant he was either sick or going to get up earlier than usual. I couldn't wait until he went to bed to get things done.

All four of my kids are that way op. I am tired of people telling us to let them stay up later. Then they're just up early and sleep deprived. :/

Re: 17 months old up before sunrise
My daughter has done this occassionally.. BUT.... I was one of those early-rising children. 5 or 6am, I believe. I got it from my dad.
it didn't stick until adulthood, if that makes you feel better ![]() but I've never really been one of those 'sleep until noon if you can' types.

Re: 17 months old up before sunrise
DD1 went through a phase like this. I ended up bringing her to bed with me and she'd sleep longer. How long are naps?

Re: 17 months old up before sunrise
We've got the windows covered so it's really dark in there, so DD doesn't seem to correlate her sleeping to the morning light. I didn't want to have a curtain in there but we put it up out of desperation about 6 months and never took it down.
I'm a late night person that loves sleeping in, and she seems to be that way too. I used to be a nanny and saw kids from a very young age that were definitely night owls or early risers (sometimes both lol). Not much you can do about it, it is what it is. |

Re: 17 months old up before sunrise
DS2 is sleeping in if he makes it to 4:45; he's normally up for the day between 4 and 4:30. The other two are up by 6:30, if not earlier. Its justnhow their internal clocks are set. I, on the other hand, am a night owl. Not a great mix.

Ds1 is in bed at 7. He just, in the past few months, started sleeping past 5-5:30. We have to wake him up at 6:30 on most school mornings but he is up at 6 on weekends and holidays. Ds2 will sleep until 7:30-8 given the chance. I love the days DH gets up with ds1 and I stay snuggling and sleeping in bed with DS2.

Re: 17 months old up before sunrise
Does she wake up crying or playing? If she wakes up playing put some books or toys near her crib and let her play in there for awhile so you can get a few more mins sleep! My guy wen through a phase like this and two things have worked so far, one what I said above. He eventually figured it out and would just sleep a little later. Two, we actually put him to bed a little earlier. I know that's crazy and it may not work for you, but some specialists say this will actually make them sleep later and longer. Crazy I know!
