Can someone give me a basic and simple explanation of how do you connect an ipad to internet. Do I need to pay extra for internet service?

No, you can hook up to wifi.

I'm not entirely certain of the question you are asking. If you already have the internet at your house then you will need a wireless modem to be abke to conect to the internet. If you want to have the internet on it like on a cell phone then you have to buy that service through a wireless carrier otherwise you will only have the internet when connected through a wifi network is available.

I mean how do you connect it to internet. I only have home internet so I was wondering if I have to get wireless like you would do with a laptop. Sorry if my question wasn't clear

Yes, you would just need to get a wireless router. They are about $40 - $60. You just plug your modem into it and it sends a wireless signal throughout your house....very simple! Keep in mind, when you are out of wireless internet range, you will not be connected to the Internet. Unless you are somewhere with free wifi like a hotel, or Starbucks, etc. That is why some people get an iPad through AT&T or Sprint. You pay monthly like you do for your phone and you are always connected to the Internet. Hope this helps!

Call your internet provided before you buy a router. Both the major companies provide them here.
