Baby Food- how long do you keep in fridge?
DS is still not eating much and so a container of commercially prepared baby food lasts a while. I know they recommend using within a few days, but I don't really understand why. I wouldn't throw out a big jar of applesauce after 3 days, so why is baby food different?

I opened a container and dumped some into a different dish so I wasn't refrigerating spit... but I only kept the baby food for a few days.

Yeah, I wouldn't feed from the container.

They tell you that to make more $$, haha! I think if you divided it up in to single serve portions and kept those in the fridge they would keep for 5-7 days, no problem.

I would freeze it in an ice cube tray, then thaw one or two cubes for a serving. You don't have to worry about it going bad so fast.

Yup it's a big money grab. Applesauce will always be applesauce, as long as the ingredients stay the same.

As long as you aren't feeding right from the jar, you are good to save it longer.

Re: Baby Food- how long do you keep in fridge?
I have done 3-4 days tops. But i know what you maen with regard to applesauce. Maybe that is different that how they preserve veggies. I really just go with how it looks and smells. even if it smells a little off i ditch it or it it starts to acccumulate that thin later of moisture or water , its gone.
