I think crocheted or knitted washcloths made with t-shirt yarn would be pretty cool, too! (though it sounds like you are just going to cut them, right?) I think they would work well, too. If you end up trying regular yarn, there is plenty of cotton to be had at the craft store - Sugar 'n' Cream, Peaches 'n' Cream, and Lion Brand all have pretty decent cotton yarns.

IMM they will get stinkie. I have had dishclothes like that and they get stinkie and they never touch poop.

Hmmm that's odd, I have never had a stinky cotton crochet'd or knit wash cloth...I wonder why?
