Do you think the movie Shrek is appropriate for a 4 year old?

I agree. I'm not the type to tell others it's not appropriate or make a huge deal if my kids did watch it...but I don't encourage it either. Next time your child goes there have him choose a movie to take with him.

I think toy story has the same type of adult innuendos as shrek.

Our kids have watched all of them, we are fine with it, and we do not make a big deal of what they watch at relatives' houses although there have been things we would rather they not have seen. We just feel it's better to not micromanage, if it were a huge problem we just wouldn't leave our kids there. That's just us.

She was talking about the ugly stepsister in shreck 2. Ive always thought that part was inappropriate in a kids movie but the rating system has changed a ton since the 80's

I wouldn't. No way. BUT, some say I am really picky with my movie choices. I only let my 3.5 (4 in march) watch shows like curious george, dora, super why, MOST (but not all) PBS shows and things like that. I let him watch the Little Engine That Could on Netflix the other day and he was acting like a mean train and saying mean words all afternoon. So, I feel like I have to be really careful. THey absorb and learn so much from what they watch! Curious George is a pretty cute innocent show
