talk to me about hemp and chia seed please

So I have heard a few people on here say that they use hemp and chia seeds for added protein. I am intrigued since I am vegetarian.

So what do you use them in? do they add much flavoror texture? or is it more for the added protein?

I saw some organic hemp and chia seeds during my last Costco trip but I couldn't decide if I should buy them ornot becuase I am sort of clueless on what to make with them.

I put hemp seed on top of my yogurt for breakfast. It adds texture, a little crunch, and slightly nutty flavor. I have hated most meat for a while now so it helps. Also helps keep digestive system going.

I add hemp seeds to everything from a desert to ground beef dishes. As for chia seeds, they're great as a replacement for eggs & also will thicken things well too like yogurt, etc.

I use chia seeds in energy balls, granola bars, granola cereal recipes. They definitely add some crunch!

Watching this thread I've been wanting to get chia seeds but every time I see them they seem super expensive. I did get to try a small package that was given to us a few months ago and put it in yogurt and oatmeal. Now I'm curious about hemp seeds...

I make the chia "gel" by adding them to water and leaving it in the fridge. Then I'll add it to smoothies or sometimes just have a spoonful.

I've also used chia seeds to make homemade jam. I had some really really ripe strawberries and I mashed them up and added the chia seeds. After about an hour in the fridge it was thick and yummy!

I just recently tried hemp seeds. They're actually pretty good too. My friend adds them to her salads all the time. I've had them on yogurt and just with a spoon.

You can check out Angela @ Oh She Glows. She is a Vegan blogger and she has some really delish recipes using chia eggs instead of eggs in her baking. Her food is amazing. I am a veg but she make great vegan food.

I also second the hemp seeds on yogurt. YUMMY!
