Acceptable OTC Treatment for Pink Eye??

Is there anything out there OTC for pink eye? We seem to be a revolving door for it and I'm almost out of the drops I picked up a couple years ago when we last went to the Dr. for it. Thanks!

Breast milk

Chamomile tea/warm tea bags

baby wash (heard that from here on DS never tried it personally)

I had it a lot in high school. Never had any meds for it. Never even treated it b/c I didn't know how. It always went away on its own, without any treatment at all, within a few days.

Make sure you are bleaching pillowcases, use rubbing alcohol to clean off glasses, and replace all make up or other stuff that regularly touches eyes/eyelashes. That should help to keep it from returning.

Well, I don't have any breast milk lying around, but I'll look into the chamomile tea. Do I just put a drop of tea in the eye? Or use the wet bag as a compress?

I'd love to hear how baby wash works, too!! Thank you for your suggestions!

A friend of mine got pink eye over and over while abroad in England, and I know she swears by dawn soap for curing it. Just a little, and it stings like the ****ens. She's hardcore.

Either.

I know chamomile works for lots of other things.

I had some eye-friendly chamomile make up remover wash type stuff, so I would just put some in my eye. And the pink eye was gone by the next morning. (This was stuff formulated specifically for eyes, not random makeup remover!) I didn't have any chamomile at the time, so I just used what I had.

I think you could do either. I would imagine a compress would be better, as the warmth would be soothing. Just allow some of the liquid to get in the eye.

Ouch! I cannot see my kids ever, ever, ever letting me put that in their eyes. I'd do it for myself, though. Thank you!!
