Re: Dolls for a 2 year old . . .
My DD will be 2 in January and we got her a bitty baby for Christmas. She looks through the catalog and says "bee, mine" when she points to the dolls

I was just curious what people thought was creepy. The face, huh? Interesting. I don't see it. But I am totally not offended. I didn't design the doll. LOL

We love Baby Alive. We have HH micro mini AIOs for her, so even the dolls wear cloth diapers here.

Re: Dolls for a 2 year old . . .
We were going to get DD2 a Baby Stella. I ended up buying a lot of Bitty Baby stuff on CL that included a used Bitty Twin so she is getting that instead. My mom already bought DD1 a set of twins so I figured it would be easier to just have one type of dolls and share clothes.
This Etsy seller makes really cute clothes that fit Baby Stella too if you decide to go that route: http://www.etsy.com/shop/TD2012?ref=seller_info_count

I think one of the corolle dolls can actually wear newborn or preemie baby clothes.... Not sure which one but that would allow for a bug wardrobe!

DD received a toddler Cabbage Patch for her 2nd birthday and loves it. It has hair and teeth, and an elephant on the shirt. You can't change the clothes but it has been a big hit with all the kids at daycare too!

We got my dd a Haba doll at about that age, she still has it and still loves it at almost 6 years old.
