BG Elementals--replacing velcro and detaching the soaker...Help!

I have about 6 BG Organics (before they became Elementals) which I bought as used off from here FSOT. I also have 2 GB Elementals seconds. The older ones have velcro that's not very sticky anymore in the laundry tabs. I'm sure there have been threads about this...but can you replace the laundry tabs yourself? If yes, how? The front panel seems to be working OK, although it's a bit pilly.

I also would like to detach the soaker for faster drying. Do you just carefully rip off the stitch? Do you have to sew anything? Do you detach it from the front of back (or does it make a difference? I have a baby boy if that makes a difference).

The detached soaker I have was detached by the previous owner in the front.
You can order velcro tab replacements on the Cottonbabies website under the used diapers section.

I have some of my own awaiting repair and my understanding is that you just sew the attached piece (where you stick the tabs) over the old one, but remove the old laundry tabs and sew on the new ones. I actually bought the repair kits from cottonbabies ($1 each).
