Diapering twins?
I have 6 month old twin boys, we made the switch to cloth a month ago and soooo happy we did, but Im def. addicted now I want every diaper I see! My question is if you have twins how many diapers is a good number to have in my stash? Right now I have about 28 pockets, and they go through about 7-8 each per day some days more. I would like to only wash every 2 days but dont want to have too many diapers in the wash that they dont clean real well. I just ordered a dozen prefolds and some covers to trifold as well. What would you suggest? Any diapers you recommend that you love? What would be a good number of diapers to have for twins? Thanks!!!

Re: Diapering twins?
It sounds like you already know! If you want to wash every 2 days it sounds like you need about 8-10 diapers (to be safe) a day per child. You need diapers for 2.5 - 3 days (extra day while diapers are in the wash). So maybe about 50 diapers. Honestly you will have 40 diapers soon. Try it out for a week, if you are feeling like you have to wash earlier than you want, buy 5-10 more.

Re: Diapering twins?
So they go through about 28-32 every two days? You probably have enough with the prefolds you just bought. Maybe just buy a few just to try if you're having lots of fun with it! Maybe a few AIO's? One size Simplex are super popular right now. There'a a ton of nice AIO's out there.

Re: Diapering twins?
I agree with the aios. I was a pockets girl until recently. Stuffing those pockets gets old FAST.

Re: Diapering twins?
Yea its kind of already getting old lol. Also not a fan of the microfiber inserts but i guess i could get more prefolds and use the pockets as covers? I would love to try some wool too on the boys looks so stinking cute!

Re: Diapering twins?
I do this with pockets and it works well, but most prefolds are too bulky IMO to trifold in a pocket (they are cut trimmer than regular covers). I use padfolded flats or trifolding preflats or inserts in a pocket shell, so I can reuse it. I can't stand microfiber.

I don't have twins, but I have had two in cloth for the last year. I personally prefer less diapers when I'm doing two because my washer only holds so many. For the longest time, I had 28 pockets, and I washed every 48 hours or less because I had to, otherwise I would run out. Also, that was about all my washer could handle. Recently, one of the babies grew out of the pockets (the younger one, go figure). So I had to pull out my prefolds and covers. I now have about 60 diapers in my rotation and it's way too many for me. I forget to wash at the 28 diaper mark, and then I have to spend all day washing back to back loads. So for me, it's easiest to use just what my kids need for two days and not many more, bit that's just my 2 cents.

I stuff all my pockets with prefolds, BTW, and it works just fine.

Agree with the pp on the prefolds. I did that for while. It was crazy bulky so I gave up. Now I do aios, prefolds with covers and fitteds with wool.... Wool is soooo cute. You have no idea how many people comment on my little guys pants!
