What are your Baby must haves?
Ones you can't do without? And what are you splurging on this time?

Re: What are your Baby must haves?
Hmm... not much, really.
Some clothes (sleepers and we love nightgowns for the first few months for night changes)... car seat... maybe a swing or bouncy seat, but a blanket on the floor is good enough for baby. With DD we thought we needed everything - definitely have learned different over the years!

Must haves...
Cloth diapers (duh! )Swaddling blankets White noise machine Swing (at least for our last baby!) Bucket seat with stroller frame (sooo convenient) Bumbo Playpen/outdoor playpen Breast pump! I <3 my Medela Can't think of much else... We won't be "splurging" on anything until we have to buy new LO a convertible car seat. We will probably buy a cradle for next to our bed if it's not gifted, but it will most likely be used (fully vetted, of course). |

Re: What are your Baby must haves?
I'm pretty minimal/frugal, so we got just the basics with DD2. The only thing we'll be getting this time around b/c I felt like it would have really come in handy is a swing... plus we have a tiny bit more space since we've moved. What I got last time (had to start fresh b/c of the big age gap between DD1 and 2):
- Co-sleeper bassinet - Cloth Diapers - Diaper pail - Week's worth of GN clothes (my mom went shopping at the thrift store the day after DD2 was born to get the right gender clothes) - Changing table/dresser - Car seat - Blankets - Boppy (bought by MIL) Uh, I think that's it! My mom bought us a stroller, dh's work bought us a bouncy chair, but those are things I didn't plan ahead to get right away. There were a lot of things I wanted, but didn't NEED and I put them on my gift registry for the shower I had after DD2 was born. I'm happy so many people came, but only two people picked up anything on the registry, and the rest were clothes. Again, I don't want to seem ungrateful, but I can get the clothes at garage sales and thrift stores, but the stuff on the registry I can't find as easily. Anyway, I feel pretty set for this coming baby, but will need to go shopping the day after the LO is born if it is a boy for new clothes!

Re: What are your Baby must haves?
I went waaay overboard with DD, so don't need to buy anything this time aside from cloth diaper stuff (DD was in disposables).
My must-have list? car seat bassinet/co-sleeper/playpen lots of old flat diapers to use as burp cloths and swaddling blankets onesies/sleepers (love the little nightgowns with the gathered bottom) bouncy chair (the only way I got to eat or shower with DD!) wrap or other baby carrier stuff I had/have that didn't/wont be used? stroller crib change table swing tons of clothes & toys breast pump & bottles (although hoping to make that work this time via a better pump) |

) and we ended up buying another new one with DS3. We got another travel one - love it, doesn't take up as much space and can be folded up, and it's lasted a long time - through DS3 using it and then through my friend's nephew using it. She's still got it at her house, I'll have to get that back sometime!Cloth diapers - yes. ![]() We thought we needed a change table with DD, bought one, and then only used it a handful of times. Most of the time we ended up changing her in the living room, and on the floor or couch. Now we just always change babies like that. We still have the darn change table, but it's in the boys' closet holding toys and extra blankets. He won't care, I promise!Quote:
Ooo - wrap/sling - definitely a must!!!

Re: What are your Baby must haves?
I don't feel like we need much
Crib- I think we're just going to get one at Ikea, I'm really not picky about it Car Seat- a friend who's DD just outgrew her infant bucket seat offered it to us, I trust them but I'll look it over first Breast Pump- I'll be off for 4 months and wasn't able to nurse DS so I'm not sure what I'll need(I'm open to any advice on this!) I think thats it! I've bought a bunch of diapers, we have a lot of hand-me-down clothes, DS never was crazy about his swing or bouncy seat so we might get one, but we have a basinet so maybe not. My mom is making me a moby type wrap.

Re: What are your Baby must haves?
must haves:
-heartbeat/white noise machine -swaddles -nursing pillow - this is the only thing I need to buy -video monitor -carrier wanted: -a star projection turtle to match DD's ladybug (already bought and delivered, actually) -newbie cloth diapers -possibly a double stroller, haven't decided, but won't be needed right away. everything else we should already have. The swing was a must-have for DD - once we learned that you needed to use the highest setting. The vibratey seat wasn't something she really liked until about 6months, but we still have it. We will need a new high chair/booster since they'll both need to be strapped in, but that's not something we'll need right away.
