Re: How many bike tires do your children go through a month?

They must ride a lot!

During summer I'll keep a few in my car as I ride trials and sometimes I'll go through few a month. But of course I run low PSI on purpose so that doesn't help!

I personally wouldn't get the slime stuff. One thing you can do is put baby powder inside the tire before putting the tubes in. It'll allow the tube to slip if there's a chance of snake bite/pinch. There are also liners that you can install to reduce the chance of running things over and getting a flat.

Re: How many bike tires do your children go through a month?

Are their tires pumped up enough? I ride my own bike for 90 minutes a day and then several hours on the weekend. I rarely ever get a flat On the weekend I'm more likely to because I tend to run a lower psi when I'm mountain biking.

Kids tires I pump up as much as the tire will allow. Especially important if they are doing jumps off things. That's a sure fire way to get a pinch flat. But you know... I taught a friends 8yr old how to patch his tire this summer. He can easily do it himself now.

when we moved to Idaho, had to switch all the jogging stroller tires to solids. There are some crazy thorns here that only grow up here and southern OR, so after 3 flats in the span of the first week we lived here, they told us that the slime would help, but we'd still be replacing tubes.

the solids have been great. Just as smooth, if you ask me.

That's my thought- maybe it's cause you're in AZ? And there's more pokey things there we never change our tubes just air up once in a while

It's the goat heads IMO. They kill our bike tires every time.
