My successful vbac!

So ecstatic! DS decided he didn't want to miss Christmas and arrived 3 weeks early. My water broke at home last night 10:30, got to the hospital around midnight having some regular contractions about 7mins apart. Over the next many hours I walked, napped and hoped for progress. It was very slow moving and by 11am I was still at 2cm, contractions were regular but not really increasing. Ended up starting pit at 11a, at 2 I was 5 and pretty miserable so received one dose stadol. Over the next hour things started to pick up, by 3 I was 7. At 4, 9 with a lip and honestly about to lose it but persisted due to an amazing support group, nurse and doctor and at 4:17pm after 2 quick pushes had my precious little guy. He has a swollen, bruised face, watching his sugars but otherwise doing great. He latched at our first attempt and is just amazing. His sister are so excited! I'm so happy that I got to have my vbac and no epidural (and thought I was doomed when they started pit). Couldn't have asked for a better experience!

His name is Noah Coolidge. He's nursing like a champ but having problems maintaining is blood sugars (probably from being a little early). The LC has me bfing every 2-3 hours or more frequent if he starts rooting, then supplementing with 15ml formula and pumping and feeding whatever I get. I hate using formula but nursing and then pumping and feeding that weren't cutting it. They are hoping once he hits 24 hours it will start to stabilize and then we can stop supplementing.

Re: My successful vbac!

Congratulations on the successful VBAC! How do you know if a mother is a candidate for VBAC? I had two C-Sections and if I get pregnant again I would opt for that kind of delivery. Does it depend on the baby's presentation?
