Re: Movie Recommendations for daughters first
I think most of your decision is going to be impacted by the reasons you chose to not let her watch television in the first place. What does your family value/believe in? What things are you trying to protect her from?

Re: Movie Recommendations for daughters first
Another favourite of mine is A Little Princess. It is based off the book written by Frances Hodgson Burnett (Secret Garden). It is such a good fairy tail and the main character has such a good imagination.

Re: Movie Recommendations for daughters first
We liked musicals. Some of the Disney Musicals are really good.
Annie has the bad lady in it, but it's still really good. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/re.../dp/B00003G1FS We liked "The Brave Little Toaster". My daughter liked Wall-E. But, it still kills me that he left the cockroach behind. I DO love some of the TV shows though. If you are going to buy a video, maybe check out some of the nice tv shows out there. Gullah Gullah Island season one is worth the money. It's been a hit for a long time. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS.../chrisficti-20

Re: Movie Recommendations for daughters first
Mary Poppins gives me nightmares to this day.
I'd go for something that's not animated where the main character actually shows the characteristics you want your children to have. However, one of my favorite kids movies is Up.

I didn't want to be. My DD does love all the Barbie movies; I just find them a little gag-inducing.

The rest really do suck. MIL bought this one, and it is actually pretty good. The singing is good, and in tune, which was surprising. The story is decent, and the princess/pauper (twins) are the heros. The princess marries a commoner for love, and the pauper ends up marrying the prince, whom she loves. It is cute and has a good message...love is more important than money.

I love Peanuts, but the movies...
I also agree that they can be mean to one another.
