What to use on newborns really dry skin?
Ds's chin and jaw are really dry and red. I assume its from the burp rags while he's eating. Im only using the very softest I have now and changing them out often. Ive also been putting vasaline on it but its not really working and Id like something a little 'greener' anyhow. What should I use?

Re: What to use on newborns really dry skin?
My doc recommended Crisco for my kids (for eczema and chapping issues both)- since dd is allergic to coconut and nuts most natural anything is out for us.

How about CJ's Butter? My husband has super, super dry hands, to the point where they crack and bleed and CJ's works wonders, honestly.
ETA: I'm not spamming here... I really think the stuff rocks!

Could you use aveeno on a NB? We started using it around a yr or so with DS when our ped recommended it due to exzema (sp) patches showing up, and it worked wonders.

I'd also use coconut oil if you have it on hand, or can easily purchase it (plus it's great to cook with and has lots of other uses, too). And maybe order some CJ's BUTTer, as already mentioned. I've always put it on any of my kids' skin issues (nothing major, but any dryness or irritation or rash) and it's great stuff and very gentle.

Re: What to use on newborns really dry skin?
I've heard wonderful things about coconut oil, and something like lanolin would probably work well too (and be safe for around/near his mouth).
We got this lotion - thentix - a few years ago. Bought it to try out for DS2's eczema - worked like magic - and used it as a baby lotion for DS3 from birth on. I've never seen a newborn with such lovely skin! Now, that could just have been his skin, but it certainly was nice
