Measuring 41 weeks at 39 = big baby?
I am currently 39 weeks and 5 days, and at my 39 week appt I was measuring 41 cm. I have had 3 children and they we 8'4, 8'5, and 8'6 and born at 38- 39 weeks. I think I never measured more than 39 cm. I am just curious if I am looking at a 9 lb + baby? I have never gone this long before, and I am measuring so big! He also has dropped (at a -1 station) but you can't tell because he is right under my ribs! I guess I am just looking for any experiences with this! Also, I am not a small woman, I am 5'7 with a large build. TIA!

Re: Measuring 41 weeks at 39 = big baby?
I always measure 2-3 cm ahead because I have long babies. 21 1/2 inches and 8 1/2 lb at 39 1/2 weeks for each of the first two. So they weren't BIG babies, just long and skinny.

Re: Measuring 41 weeks at 39 = big baby?
It could be baby's position, baby's weight, or extra amniotic fluid.
With baby one I measured right on schedule. She was 8lb 11oz. Baby 2 measured 48 cm at 40 weeks he was 10lbs 8oz. Baby 3 measured 46 cm at 32 weeks. He was born at 37 weeks and weighed in at 7lbs 7oz. He had a lot of amniotic fluid. We had expected another 10lb baby and were not prepared for such a tiny little mite.

Re: Measuring 41 weeks at 39 = big baby?
Could be a number of things, I definitely wouldn't automatically equate measuring large and big baby!
ETA: Totally anecdotal, but I measured at 43cm at my 39wk appointment with Levi and he was born 39+5 7lbs 3oz.

Re: Measuring 41 weeks at 39 = big baby?
Nope, it doesn't necessarily mean your baby is "big." As the other ladies mentioned.. it could be a number of things... including babies position and amniotic fluid. Also, women tend to measure further ahead with subsequent pregnancies regardless. It's pretty normal.
I've always measured weeks ahead in the 3rd tri and I've had 2 7lbers, 2 8lbers, and 1 9lber.

Re: Measuring 41 weeks at 39 = big baby?
I measured 42 at 39 wks with my son. He was 9 lbs. 3 oz.
All my other pg I have measured either right on track, or smaller. As PPs said, doesn't always mean a bigger baby, but in my case it did.

Re: Measuring 41 weeks at 39 = big baby?
thanks for the encouragement! I have had some pretty good contractions this afternoon, so hopefully I will have him soon! I am so uncomfortable, and have been having constant contractions for about 3 weeks now! I am super ready to hold him!

Could be a number of things, doesn't mean baby is going to be big.
