yep, fodie you need to bring that humidity down to about 30-40%. if you have vents, open them one at a time so that you don't lose your temp. Keep a close eye on it and give it at least an hour for each adjustment. The best ventilation is cross wise so open them diagonally if possible.

Eta: I have about 30 hatching eggs coming. Dh's gonna kill me.

AHHH, I woke at 5 and the bators were off! 73 and 83 deg! I panicked checking fuses ect. Ray said wait, the other broom outlet was making a funny sound so I turned it off, lemme reset it. It came back on! That was 2 an-5:30! 34 eggs and 1 in the hatcher!

oh no! So they're at or near hatch day? What was your internal/water wiggler temp? If that stayed up they might be ok.

I don't have a secondary in each. I have tested the ones i use and they are a-ok. I did check the eggs and water with my fingers and it was still cool. I went ahead and checked the hatching chick and head a peep. It came right back up to temp, so i think it had just lost the temp when I found them and nothing elese had time to cool. Otherwise the water and eggs wouldn't have been so warm right? It's also warm in our bathroom. Ugh.

OK, temp 99.7 and humidity 34%. And for the eggs that just have the red ring, what should I do about them, I assume they are not developing?

perfect Fodie! For the ones with the red rings, if you're past day 5 toss them. They're bacterial and will seep and infect nearby healthy eggs. Double check by candling again to be sure but you should see a "spider" and possibly a baby doing flips in there by now.

Yep, exploders! I had one with what I thought was a ring and I waited and a baby showed it's self for a sec! A good way to candel if you really believe it's a gonner, is to spin the egg faster than usual as you candel and then imediatly spin the other way, stopping and checking to see if the inner is sloshy or falls apart. It's my final check. I don't do it as rough as it sounds, just incase.

I love your coop! He is going to reqote today, we made some modifications to the plan. He said pine would be cheaper, he was quoting cedar. What type wood is yours?

Oh, deff pine. We prob would have doubled the price with cedar. I do so love all cedar though! Paint it and it's just a sgood though. It's strong stuff. All pressure treated is what we do, always. It insures a forever non-rot! Very strong and won't split on you either.

I do use cedar shavings when I can though!
