Hey guys. So I like my BG 4.0's but hate pulling out the inserts after every use. Has anyone ever tried to cut a second pocket into them so that the inserts would agitate out in the wash? Thanks!

I don't have BG's but, I've done that with all my Alvas. It only comes out about half the time.

What do you mean? Like cut a slot in the front? I have never and would not ever change mine, personally.

You would void the warranty and sometimes it's needed, especially with pockets.

I did that with 2 newborn pockets that came front-stuffing but I couldn't even fit my hand in there! I cut as close to seam as possible and serged the micro-fleece. (Okay I actually let my mother do this for me, I'm not very sewing-handy) As mentioned, this would void the warrant, and possibly make them harder to sell in the end. They could sell for just the same if you do a nice job, someone might see it as a benefit. If you're planning on using them until they're run to the ground, I'd say it's worth a try.

I don't cut a slit, but I don't pull inserts out when changing diapers. I do a rinse before washing and after the rinse, I check and make sure inserts have agitated out. If not, I pull them out then. Some pockets are better about agitating out on their own. But pulling them out AFTER that rinse is a lot less gross to me.

I suppose you could, but I know for me nothing ever agitates out in the wash, not even ones that are supposed to.

I wouldn't. You could use a cloth wipe to grab the insert if you don't want to touch it. I love BG and I wouldn't buy a used one cut up, but that is only my opinion.

I have never pulled an insert out of thee pocket. Just pull back the back portion of the pocket so the insert is exposed and shake it out a little so the insert is over the flap. The rest will agitate out in the wash.
