My meal plan:
Monday - split pea soup with salad (soaked the peas overnight to make them easier to digest) Tuesday - beef roast with salad and broccolli Wednesday - bunless burgers with salad and probably sweet potato fries or green beans Thursday - procesed crap at the inlaws for dinner Friday - chicken kebabs marinated with cumin and cilantro. Served with salad and bell pepper chunks Saturday- unknown We will eat eggs and fruit for breakfast. Leftovers probably for lunch.

Anyone else make lent promises? Instead of giving up one particular food or thing this year I am promising to be 100% primal (since I do eat some dairy regularly) for lent.

How do you know how many calories you need for weight loss? Just trial and error? Or is there some magic formula?

It was trial and error for me. I started using myfitnesspal (MKaKids if anyone wants to add me!) just eating like I normally would to get a sense of how many calories I regularly eat in a day without thinking about it. I was around 1400. I tried to reduce that to 1200 to loose weight and actually gained! I upped it per suggestion from someone on ds to 1800 and lost! 1400 calories wasn't enough for someone 205lbs, and my body was in starvation mode. So now I regularly try to eat around 1600 calories, if I work out (usually zumba or step aerobics both of which burn around 675 per 55 minutes) I add 400 calories and aim for 2000 per day. I have been loosing steadily since (about 1.5lbs per week).

We follow a diet similar to Paleo. We do eat dairy, raw milk and cheeses. I also make homemade yogurt. Here's some meal planning.
Mon- breakfast- eggs an fresh fruit. Lunch- left over raost chicken with salad. dinner- - Crock pot - pot roast with mushrooms and onions, side of steamed veggies Tues- Breakfast- protein smoothie with chia seeds and almond milk lunch- grain free sugar free waffles with fresh whipped cream ( sweetened with stevia)and fruit Dinner- Philly cheese steak stuffed peppers. |
