Korean bath house spa time

My skn is dry from the cold weather. I'm so jonesing for a trip to a Korean bath house. I wonder if I can convince DH that an afternoon in a hot tub followed by head to toe exfoliation is how we want to spend our anniversary. I only wish coed or couples bath houses exist.

Sounds relaxing! They have co-ed bath houses here in Germany.

That sounds wonderful. I have only ever been to a Korean spa in LA - and the first exfoliation I got was a strange combination of refreshing and traumatic - old ladies in their unders scrubbing EVERY inch from from head to toe. I was just thinking that really need a good exfoliation. Sadly, I think Korean bath houses may only exist in LA and NYC.

Not a Korean spa, but we have this not far from us. http://www.scandinave.com/en/scandinave-spa-blue-mountain-scandinavian-baths-registered-massages/

One of my favourite places to go with a friend of DH when we can afford it.

Oh yeah. For first timers, it's traumatic to the eyes and touch. My introduction was very authentic. My cousin was living in Seoul a few years ago, so newly married DH and I planned an extra long layover to visit during our honeymoon. She took us to my first authentic Korean spa and it's been an addiction ever since. The whole experience is fully naked Naked NAKED. You soak in a several pools of water and work your way up the thermostat of hotness. Then Korean ladies in black bras and panties roughly scrub you down and slough off layers of dead skin. That part isn't terribly relaxing, but crucial. You walk out of the spa feeling like a new person.

There are a couple spas near my in Orange County and several in LA. The spas are segregated by gender. Some spas have coed areas where you can exercise, sleep, eat, or sit in warm rooms with your partner. I really wish there was one with a private hot tub for couples.

Here's one I want to check out in LA. http://www.yelp.com/biz/natura-spa-los-angeles#query:korean%20bath

I love how the most expensive package is called a Swedish Passport.
