What do I feed my baby! Help!
Hi, I'm a first time mom and my dd is 7 months old and a big girl. We fed her banana and pureed carrots a little bit in her 4th and 5th month and she did really great with that, but she didn't seem to need it so I went back to just nursing.
Now she's teething and just does NOT sleep anymore. She seems to have some stomach discomfort too - it's hard to tell with the teething - but she does not come close to sleeping through the night anymore, and it seems like she wants to nurse all the time. I can't tell if she's hungry or just needs comfort. I tried to start her on solids because she seems hungry, but she won't eat! She either cries or just plays with the food and doesn't really swallow it. She's a chubby developed 7 month old - what kinds of things should I be feeding her - that won't aggravate possible stomach issues? She has 4 teeth - 2 top 2 bottom as well. And what kind of schedule - how much/how often - should I have? Thanks so much for the advice! |

I really like avocado as a first food.
Nice healthy fats. At that age my kids also liked rice. We did blw with all 4 so we don't do purées. They say food is more for practice before a year anyways. She will eat if she is hungry. Check this out http://www.babyledweaning.com/ Last edited by mommy24babes; 01-06-2013 at 08:35 PM. |

Avocado. Peaches. Bananas. Kiwi.
Those were my faves to start on.

Re: What do I feed my baby! Help!
This helps - I wasn't sure if I had to puree or mash everything. I'm a first time mom so I just assumed that if she put something solid in her mouth she would choke on it. Do they just figure it out? I can't help worrying about that...

She might gag a little at first, don't freak out, let her get it out herself if that happens, reaching in only makes it worse, but she will get it. My 3rd had no interest in any food u.tip close to 7 months, a month later she ate an entire piece of pizza with 2 teeth. They figure it out!

Fruits we did but book says veggies first as not well liked. Freeze breastmilk in Ice cube tray to help teething & grab mesh holder...

Re: What do I feed my baby! Help!
The thing hat will freak you out is the gag reflex. It adjusts as they start solid foods but there may be some gagging. With my kids, baby mum mums helped with this. They dissolve super quick, so choking isnt a scare factor.
