My LO is 7 months and he is a pretty chunky baby. I have tried the origami fold, the kite fold, and the neat fold. The neat fold works best however there is always a gap where his legs are. I have tried just about EVERYTHING! Pulling the 'tabs' up toward his head before fastening, jelly rolling in (it just comes undone while he is playing) and even folding the diaper in half twice before doing the fold (so it looks more like a square w/ more absorbant layers) and nothing seems to work! I had the same problems with my pre-folds and it was so frustrating! Sorry if this is confusing, but this is what I mean:

Re: I can't adjust flats to properly fit!
hard to say for sure without seeing you do it, but is there any way you can adjust the diaper so you are working with a shorter rise? also, are you pinning or using a snappi?

I have tried that by folding it in half twice and then it is too short. I use a snappi!!

Have you tried the airplane fold? That one is pretty spectacular!

Re: I can't adjust flats to properly fit!
Once you get the flat all folded and are about to put it on baby, put baby's butt on the flat, roll the sides of the diaper in (about where the diaper will be between his legs), then put the front of the diaper up, make sure baby's legs are STRAIGHT down and not bent, then pull one wing up and over really far, hold it, pull the other up and over.
This is called the "jelly roll" and gets really tight around the legs. Make sure when you're putting the front of the diaper over him that THAT part is tight. Pull it up so the crotch of the diaper is close to him and hold it in place on him as you pull the wings over. |

I really like the airplane fold too... but if you want to try the neat fold some more when you fold the top down and bottom up, try making it shorter, they can overlap a good bit... when I switched to the bigger flats that's what I had to do
