Hosting a Cookie Decorating Party for 5 and 6 yr olds
I'm hosting a cookie decorating party for 5 and 6 yr olds (for DD's 6th birthday party). Any tips on what I should consider or think about? Also, ideas? The theme for her party is Hello Kitty.
Also, type of sugar cookie decorations to buy? Supplies? |

All I can suggest is "plenty"
The kids love, love lots of toppings and they seem to decorate quickly, so don't be surprised if they are done before you expect them to be. Sounds like fun!

Do you make and decorate cookies often?
My best suggestion would be to make your own icing. You can make it in huge batches and tint it whatever colors you want. It will save you a ton of money as well as being easier for the kids to squeeze out. Those little icing tubes at the market are so tough! You can get big bags of powdered sugar at places like BJs or Costco. If you want it to dry hard so you can stack it buy some of the meringue powder by Wiltons and follow the directions on there. I would get various sprinkles and sugars, mini choc chips, mini m&m's, if you go in the baking aisle in the craft store they'll have lots of b-day decorations as well.
