I've gotten all the answers and have determined the best way to proceed this post didn't seem to help any other people or generate much so I'm requesting it to be deleted. Thanks

Re: Home Based Cloth Diaper Service
I seem to remember a post on this awhile back. You should do the advanced search. You need to purchase commercial machines that have specific parameters to comply with sanitation, and I don't think they are permitted in your home. I will search later if I have time and see what I find. I do remember reading an entire thread about it, though.

Re: Home Based Cloth Diaper Service
I found that post but there wasn't much info on it. Hopefully something'll turn up.
Thanks! |

Re: Home Based Cloth Diaper Service
I don't know the answer but I would check out realdiaperindustry.org. I know our local "diaper fairy" is a member. Her page is diaperfairy.net. She also does cloth diapering 101 and 102 classes at local businesses around town.

Re: Home Based Cloth Diaper Service
What Red Fern said! Real Diaper Industry can tell you what the regulations are.
Another excellent resource is your local SCORE or Small Business Association office. Going through the process of developing a full-fledged business plan would be a very good idea considering you're dealing with highly sensitive "topics" (children, and human waste).

Re: Home Based Cloth Diaper Service
Thanks! The RDIA actually offers an instructional manual to get started in a business, but it's $400-ouch! I might have to bite the bullet and shell out the money as I can't find sanitation standards anywhere else. I've tried the dept of health and OSHA, and am in touch with textile testing labs and ozone washing systems-it's amazing the amount of data to wade through! People must figure it out one way or another, because there are a ton of services in this country-and the more babies in cloth the better!!
