Re: The spanking debate.

I was spanked as a kid, but I will never let my children get hurt with spanking. They will gonna hate me if I spank their bottom.

Oh yay a spanking thread! Mods please do not delete. I like to read the train wreck threads while I am on my elliptical. Keeps my mind off my burning thighs.

Well Good Morning!

Nothing like a good spanking thread in the morning to get the blood going.

So let me think of something useful to say. How about:
Please keep blows above the belt.
(I thought that one fit.)
Everyone to their respective corners.
Ding!

Seriously, lets see if this can continue without getting the lock down.

Jump ropes works the best. It hurts more than a leather belt or bamboo stick.

At least it worked for me as I was a reckless child.

But no, we do not spank our children.

Re: The spanking debate.

Against. I teach my kids that hitting is not ok, so why would I turn around and hit them? I don't care how anyone wants to sugar coat it, but spanking is another word for hitting. No matter how hard or soft the touch, you still have to raise your hand and strike in order to spank.

I never understood how hitting a child will teach them to respect you. I don't spank my kids and they respect me just fine, probably even more. My kids have witnessed another child being spanked and they asked me why the parents did that. I told them that is how some people teach their kids how to behave. They said they are so glad we don't do that, they said it looks horrible.

How can we possibly get our kids to respect us and learn right from wrong and learn what dangerous situations are? We teach them. We model for them. We talk to them. We don't hit them.

I have not read replays yet but....

I'm not a big spanker, at all, well on my kids anyways
We do however, on occasion, after numerous warnings resort ( NOT out of anger) to spanking. And it isn't fierce or mean. Although dh has been known to be too overboard in my eyes. But I'm a sucker and a wimp. I'm more of the take everything away and ground you to your room kind of mom.

I was left with bruises and had paddles with our names on them! Really didn't appreciate it. That's why I personally choose not to. Dh was straight up punched and hit in the face, so spanking to him is really minor.
